Bruce Twyon
Captain, owner
Captain Bruce Twyon grew up in New England and spent most of his time on the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean. He and his family started vacationing in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1996 and have been back every year, or more, since then.
Captain Bruce has more than 20 years experience power boating in an around the U.S. and British Virgin Islands and the waters in and around the State of New Hampshire.
Bruce has his 100 Ton Masters Certification, and possesses his 50 Ton Masters license issued by the US Coast Guard, and is eager to have guests onboard. As beautiful as the beaches are in the Virgin Islands, there is nothing like getting out on these beautiful clear blue waters and snorkeling, diving, or swimming many amazing locations, some secret!
Captain Bruce is also helpful to guests of St John with all their on island needs. He assists with lodging, recommendations, provisioning, and booking other styles of boats that guests wish to charter.

Jay Rushing
Captain
Captain Jay Rushing grew up in South Texas, working on ranches and rodeoing. His parent’s home banked on the Guadalupe River and he was in the water anytime he wasn’t working. At 15 he read the book “The Dove” a true story about 16 year old, Robin Lee Graham sailing around the world single handed. This gave Jay a dream that he never lost. He started sailing a Sunfish right behind his house and now has over 30 years of sailing experience including Open Ocean and Racing. Jay is USCG 100 Ton Masters Licensed. Jay, his wife and two daughters live aboard their 46’ Antigua sailboat “Happy Ours” in Cruz Bay.

Connor Masterson
Captain
Captain Connor Masterson was born and raised here in St. John, leaving briefly for California to attend college, he quickly realized how much he missed these incredible waters and the people of St. John.
Connor returned home and obtained his 100 Ton Masters license from the USCG. Connor is a very competent sailor, boat mechanic and Captain, with incredible knowledge of the waters, the islands and their history.

Kate Hanna
First Mate
First Mate Kate Hanna has been working on Southern Hospitality since before Captain Bruce bought the boat. She grew up in North Carolina and is a certified Lifeguard back home and here in the Virgin Islands. Kate has a wonderful personality and is great with guest of all ages, especially children. Kate makes it her mission to make sure guests are safe, while being waited on hand and foot during their day on the water. Rumor has it she makes an incredible rum punch!
